About PayoffCalc

PayoffCalc builds free, transparent financial calculators for US households — every tool shows its math and never asks for your data.

What PayoffCalc is

PayoffCalc is a free library of financial calculators built for people in the United States who want straight answers about debt, loans, taxes, and saving. Every calculator on this site does three things:

  1. Gives you a real answer — your debt-free date, your monthly payment, your projected balance — computed instantly in your browser.
  2. Shows its math — the formula, a breakdown table, and the assumptions behind the number. No black boxes.
  3. Asks for nothing — no account, no email signup, no download. Your numbers never leave your device because every calculation runs locally in your browser.

Why we built it

Most online calculators give you a single number and hide how they got there — or they exist mainly to capture your contact information for a sales funnel. We think a calculator should be a tool, not a trap. So we publish the formulas, explain the edge cases (like when a minimum payment never pays off a balance), and write long-form guides that teach the concepts behind the numbers.

Editorial independence

PayoffCalc does not sell financial products, and our calculators do not recommend specific lenders, brokers, or funds. When we name a product (for example, an ETF in an educational projection), it is to make the math concrete — not an endorsement. See our Editorial Standards and Methodology for how content and calculators are produced and checked.

What we are not

We are not financial advisors, tax professionals, or attorneys. Everything on this site is educational information, not personalized advice. See the Financial Disclaimer for the full statement.
